Matcha Bowl
- Bring 2.5oz filtered or freshly drawn water to a rolling boil and set aside and let cool to roughly 180ºF.
- Scoop (and sift) 1 tsp (approx 1.5g) matcha powder into your matcha bowl (if using a bamboo matcha spoon, scoop two heaping scoops into your matcha bowl).
- Pour hot water into your matcha bowl.
- Begin slowly mixing water and matcha powder with a bamboo chasen (tea whisk).
- Raise the chasen a bit and whisk vigorously, back and forth in a “Z” or “W” shape, to create froth.
- Raise the chasen (tea whisk) to the surface and gently whisk, creating a creamy foam.

- You can also dilute with additional water for a lighter flavor.
Iced Matcha Latte
What you’ll need: (to make it easy)- A good sized glass (I promise, you’ll want it all)
- A 1 tsp measuring spoon
- A fine mesh sifter
- A handheld electric whisk
- A small amount of hot water (not boiling or it can burn the matcha powder)
- Ice
- Milk (our favorite is almond milk)
Instructions
Optimal Ratio for 12oz - (we recommend experimenting to find your favorite ratio)- 2-3g sifted (approx 2-3 tsp)
- 2oz hot water (not boiling!)
- Ice
- 8 - 10 oz milk
Optimal Ratio for 16oz - (we recommend experimenting to find your favorite ratio)- 3-4g sifted (approx 3-4 tsp)
- 2oz warm water
- Ice
- 10 - 12 oz milk
Matcha is your base. Water is your bloom (unlocks aroma compounds). And milk is your body (preserves foam).- Sift matcha into your glass
- Add a small amount of hot water (approximately 2 oz; do not use boiling water, as it can burn the matcha powder making it taste bitter)
- Whisk with your handheld electric whisk for about 15–20 seconds, until the matcha is smooth, glossy and frothy
- Add some honey and blend again for a few seconds! (totally optional)
- Add enough ice to make it cold
- Add your milk (leaving room for sweet cream cold foam, if you choose)
- Blend again for a few seconds
- Top off with your cold foam if you choose
Sweet Cream Cold Foam: (totally optional but oh so yummy)
You’ll use a 2:1 ratio of: (depending on how much you want to make)
- 2 parts heavy whipping cream (dairy or plant based but dairy works best)
- 1 part milk (dairy or plant based)
- Honey simple syrup or sugar simple syrup
- Whisk with your handheld electric whisk in a glass until thick and creamy.
